A delegation from "Uzbekinvest" visited Italy and Spain to establish cooperation with leading public and private insurance and brokerage companies in these countries.
During the visit, negotiations were held and agreements were signed with the Spanish export credit agency CESCE. Additionally, an agreement with the Italian export credit agency SACE was prepared for signing during its upcoming visit. These agreements aim to provide insurance protection for investments and trade operations from Spain and Italy into Uzbekistan, and conversely, for Uzbek business projects entering these countries. Special attention was given to insurance support for small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) investments in priority sectors of Uzbekistan’s economy.
Meetings were also held, and cooperation agreements signed, with major private insurance and brokerage firms such as AON Italy, AON Spain, Howden Iberia, Barents Re, MAPFRE, and Hispania. These agreements support Uzbekinvest’s active entry into the insurance markets of these countries within the framework of global reinsurance programs covering property, engineering, financial, aviation risks, and cargo insurance in third-country markets.
Financial sector representatives praised the economic reforms being implemented by the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and emphasized the importance of expanding insurance coverage channels for mutual investments and trade through both public and private insurance providers. They also noted the timeliness of the signed and prepared agreements, especially in light of the upcoming high-level visits, during which business forums and meetings between business communities from Uzbekistan, Italy, and Spain are planned.
