The next scientific and practical event was devoted to the topic: "Insurance in the context of global climate change: problems and opportunities".
During the meeting, the senior assistant to the manager of the Center for Business Insurance and Prospective Development and Support of Regional Networks B. Sultanov made a presentation on the topic: "What types of insurance are becoming relevant in the context of global climate change?", the manager of the department of actuarial calculations and formation of insurance reserves B. Khusanov - with the topic "The impact of climate change on the insurance market and risk assessment", as well as the reinsurance broker of the Association of Non-Commercial Organizations A. Migashko - with a report "The impact of natural disasters on climate change".
The speakers presented information on global trends and local consequences of climate change, the evolution of insurance risks, the importance of innovative insurance products in extreme weather conditions, existing climate threats in Uzbekistan and Central Asia, as well as the use of traditional risk assessment models and modern Big Data, IoT and AI technologies.
In addition, the event featured statistical overviews and data on notable insurance claims from 2023, global insurance losses, types of natural disasters, and the growing trend in damage severity. Opinions were also expressed regarding key factors driving this upward trend.
